Ajax relies on parent volunteers to keep our activities running smoothly and our young people thriving. Every family is expected to take on a “parental responsibility” as per the commitment forms that were signed when joining Group.
What’s the commitment? These are ongoing roles where you’ll be part of a team that gets things done, not just coordinating from the side-lines. Every family either needs to join a committee or team to enable the Group to function. Or find a role within the Group where they can make a contribution. With all parents actively involved, nobody is unduly burdened and the time commitment is not excessive. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the skills, we provide training and support every step of the way..

Our Teams
Section Teams (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers)
Run and support meetings and activities that inspire young people to learn, grow and explore. Section teams deliver the weekly programme, run camps and trips, and mentor young members.
Urgent: Beavers and Cubs require regular adults to join the section teams.
Fundraising Team Committee
Plans and runs events, including Esher May Fair, Plant Sale and Claygate Flower shower, that raise vital funds for the group. This committee organises and delivers fundraising activities throughout the year and manages relationships with sponsors and donors.

DofE Team
Help young people achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Awards through expedition support and assessment.
Building Maintenance Team
Keeps our Scout facilities safe, well-maintained and ready for adventure. This team carries out repairs, maintains the building, and ensures our facilities meet health and safety standards.
Boating Team
Look after our watercraft and equipment to enable safe and exciting water activities. This team maintains boats, conducts safety checks, and ensures equipment is ready for use.
Website/Technical Team
Manages our digital presence and online systems to keep our community connected. This team updates the website and manages online communications platforms.
Minibus Team
Keeps our minibus road-ready and available for adventures. This team arranges servicing and MOTs, and ensures the vehicle is safe and compliant.
Parent Responsibilities and Socials Team
Ensures clear communication between families and leaders, strengthening our community and looking for opportunities to recruit new leaders. This team acts as a liaison, gathers feedback from families, and actively helps bring new volunteers into the Group. Brings our Scout community together through social events, celebrations and family fun days. This team plans and runs gatherings for parents, families and volunteers to build community spirit.
