Ajax has a long-standing relationship with the Rona Sailing Project, which began in the 1960s to take disadvantaged young people from the London area to the sea. Formerly known as the London Sailing Project, it is one of the oldest sail training organisations in the UK, with over 50 years of experience.
Since its founding, Rona has taken more than 20,000 young people to sea, offering them the experience of a lifetime, helping build self-confidence and offering a new perspective on the world. Ajax Explorers have been fortunate to join boats on Rona voyages, where they’ve had a wonderful time and gained valuable experience.
The Project is supported by a small full-time team and around 400 volunteers, including Skippers, Mates, Watch Officers, and Watch Leaders, whose dedication helps make these transformative experiences possible for a wide range of young people.
